Aim To Host Webinar on Industry-Changing CARB Regulations

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has long been at the forefront of environmental regulations in the United States, with many states choosing to adopt the policies they set forth. While their initiatives are aimed at reducing emissions and improving air quality, businesses and truck drivers across the nation often find themselves grappling with the complexities and challenges posed by these clean-air regulations.

CARB's regulations primarily target emissions from heavy-duty trucks and aim to reduce pollutants that contribute to air pollution and climate change. These regulations include stringent requirements for truck engines, fuel efficiency standards and the implementation of cleaner technologies. While these measures align with broader environmental goals, interstate truckers face unique challenges trying to comply with clean-air regulations as they can vary state to state.

Compliance Challenges:

  1. Financial Burden:
Truckers traveling across state lines and the businesses they drive for often need to invest in retrofitting or upgrading their vehicles to meet CARB standards. These modifications can be expensive, leading to a significant financial burden for companies.
  2. Navigating Complex Regulations:
Clean-air regulations are intricate and subject to frequent updates. Companies, especially those with drivers traveling across state lines, may find it challenging to stay informed about the latest requirements, leading to inadvertent non-compliance and potential fines.
  3. Limited Access to Clean Fuels:
Access to cleaner fuels, such as low-carbon or renewable diesel, can be limited outside of California. Businesses and drivers may face logistical challenges in sourcing these fuels, impacting their ability to comply with CARB regulations.
  4. Enforcement and Penalties:
CARB regulations come with strict enforcement mechanisms and penalties for non-compliance. Drivers traveling from state to state may feel the pressure, and the fear of facing penalties can add stress to their operations.

While CARB regulations present challenges for many businesses, especially those running commercial equipment across state lines, proactive measures and a willingness to adapt can help mitigate the impact. A critical component of this is staying informed, and that’s why Aim Transportation Solutions, along with host Dan Fleming, Aim’s Vice President of Sales Operations, will host a highly informative webinar covering this very topic on Thursday October 19th at 10:30 a.m. (Eastern). The webinar is free, so make sure you secure your spot by registering now.
